First female winner of 82nd Meninak Ocean Marathon Swim, sponsored by B&C Financial Advisors

On Saturday, July 25, more than 40 Jacksonville Beach volunteer lifesavers will compete in the 82nd Annual Meninak Ocean Marathon Swim. The competition between members of the American Red Cross Volunteer Life Savings Corps (ARCVLSC) began in 1933 when the American Red Cross first arrived in Jacksonville to provide relief during the Great Fire of 1901. Less than a decade late in 1912, the ARCVLSC began its commitment to keep swimmers safe at Jacksonville Beach. Since that time, the millions who visit Jacksonville Beach have come to rely on this professional force of volunteer lifesavers.

Jan Butensky and Allan Cohen, owners of B&C Financial Advisors, say they’re honored to serve as the Title Sponsor for the upcoming Meninak Ocean Marathon Swim.

“These men and women are a part of the only continuously operating lifesaving unit in the United States. They have saved thousands of lives here on our beaches. We’re proud to sponsor this event and support those who give their time and dedication to keep the people of Jacksonville safe.”

Mike White, a board member of Meninak, says the donation from B&C Financial Advisors will make a difference.

“We depend on local community-based companies to support these lifesaving efforts. We are deeply grateful that B&C Financial Advisors made the commitment to serve as Title Sponsor for this important event. It is a fun and exciting competition, but it is vital to our efforts to support the volunteers who keep swimmers safe on our beach.”

The big race begins at the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club and will end at the Lifeguard Station in Jacksonville Beach. Lifeguards arrive at 9:00 a.m. for photos, and the race will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will last through 11:00 a.m.

Join us on the beach as we honor and support those who risk their lives to keep our beaches safe everyday!
